Falafel is extremely dangerous for cats, and under no circumstance should you feed a piece of it to a cat. Falafel is a complex dish – and many of its ingredients will harm a cat, sometimes to the point of severe damage and even death.
There are plenty of things in a falafel that are bad for cats: onions, garlic, and spices are three of the many things that will hurt a cat. Any of these three items are toxic by themselves. Put them together and you have a cocktail that could prove fatal for any domestic cat.
Herbs and spices, which are also a part of any falafel recipe, could prove harmful for a cat. Even though they’re not downright deadly, they will give your cat a hard time – one that no cat should go through.
Most falafel recipes feature chickpeas or some sort of beans, and they are not good for cats either.
What should I do if my cat ate falafel?
If your cat has eaten falafel, take it to the vet. If there’s no vet close to you, call the nearest one to you and follow the instructions that they give you. Try to contain it at home but you should also consider the possibility of going there as well.
Falafel is bad news for a cat. You’ll probably have no issue with it because cats aren’t known to eat this type of food – but it could happen. And if it does, you should expect your cat to have an upset stomach, followed by diarrhea, vomiting, and similar stuff.
While eating falafel isn’t necessarily deadly, you should still take your cat to the vet. He may be able to induce vomiting in your cat, which will decrease the odds of something far worse from happening.
You may be capable of keeping things under control from home – but if you decide to do so, check with your vet first to see what you should do.
Can cats eat chickpeas?
Cats shouldn’t eat chickpeas. They provide no good for cats, nutrition-wise. Cats also find chickpeas hard to digest – and they will provoke stomach issues for it. Stomach pain, diarrhea, and similar symptoms will happen because of chickpeas. Your cat probably won’t eat chickpeas, but you never know.
Few cats in this world would like to have a taste of chickpeas. Legumes aren’t a cat’s favorite thing, so there’s nothing to worry about there. Just in case, make sure the chickpeas are far away from cats. When it comes to cats, you never know!
Can cats eat beans?
Depending on what kind of beans you’re talking about, cats may or may not have trouble after eating them. Cats don’t really care for beans – and most of them will upset their stomach.
Certain beans can definitely cause trouble, though. For example, canned beans are no good for cats. Neither are refried beans or coffee beans.
At the end of the day, your cat should stay far away from beans!
