If cats are better than dogs depends on who you ask! Cats aren’t evil animals like old myths will lead you to believe nor they are less affectionate than a dog. Both cats and dogs are loving companions that love to play, eat, and see their owner happy – but they live and love in different ways!
Dogs are more social, tend to be around all the time, and know how to follow orders.
Cats are social too but in a different way. They love to be with other people (and animals) but not for long. They definitely need their alone time. If one trait defines how cats are, that’s irreverence – they sure ignore most orders they get!
Dogs are better for active, social people. Cats are more of a loner kind of pet. Then again, you might find a cat that is more sociable than a golden retriever out there!
Are cats friendlier than dogs?
Both cats and dogs are friendly – but they form relationships in different ways. Dogs will show affection 9 times out of 10 with anyone who seems friendly. On the other hand, you need to earn a cat’s affection – and even if you do, he might give you the cold shoulder sometimes!
Most cats get a bad reputation because they need to have some alone time every once in a while. They love to hide and run away if they feel like it. But they are incredibly friendly when the time is right.
And that’s the key: to truly know how friendly a cat could be, you need to be with him at the right moment. At their best, cats are as friendly as any dog.
Are cats easier to take care of than dogs?
If there’s anything that separates a cat from a dog is their level of independence. Cats need attention as any other pet does, but they don’t need as much as a dog does. Dogs need to be with their owner at all times, a cat can handle some alone time.
Cats are more independent than dogs in a lot of ways. They can groom themselves, they don’t need to go for a walk to go to the bathroom, and they can have fun on their own.
But they do have downsides, just like owning a dog does; for example, cleaning a cat’s sandbox is no joke. And, sometimes, you might want to hang around with your cat and he won’t feel like it. That’s just the way it is!
Can cats and dogs get along?
There’s no doubt cats and dogs can get along just fine. They do need a little bit of time to get used to each other – but that happens with every pair of pets there is! If done right, after a little adaptation period, a cat and a dog will love each other like brothers.
Keep in mind there’s no guarantee two animals will like each other. Introducing a pet to another is a slow process that needs to be done carefully and with patience. More often than not, it’ll be a success!
